According to Wikipedia cabin fever is…
"…an idiomatic term for a claustrophobic reaction that takes place when a person or group is isolated and/or shut in, in a small space, with nothing to do, for an extended period (as in a simple country vacation cottage during a long rain or snow). Symptoms include restlessness, irritability, forgetfulness, laughter, and excessive sleeping, distrust of anyone they are with, and an urge to go outside even in the (less miserable) rain, snow or dark."
Our symptoms started presenting themselves late Thursday night after my parents and sister arrived. My dad, mom & sister made the trek from East Texas on Thursday afternoon right in the middle of the snowstorm. They came in to see Caleb and his mom and dad…oh and to take my sister to get an MRI.
Below is a pictorial representation of the symptoms of cabin fever. If you see similar symptoms in your household, get help immediately.
Symptom 1: “restlessness” (Caleb in the dishwasher)
Symptom 2: “irritability” ("Take that mommy's nose!")
Symptom 3: “forgetfulness” ("Wait...these are not my shoes!")
Symptom 4: “laughter” (Caleb and Daddy laughing and laughing and laughing)
Symptom 5: “excessive sleeping” (Papaw Travis and Caleb doing what they do best)
Symptom 6: “distrust of anyone they are with” (even his mommy)
Symptom 7: “urge to go outside even in the rain, snow or dark” ("Papaw...please take me outside")
Thankfully, we were eventually able to go outside and narrowly escape from the cabin fever caused by the winter storm of 2010.
