50 Years of Hulen Street Baptist Church

Our church celebrated its 50th year today. We had a picnic on the grounds this afternoon and a fun time was had by all! At first it was a little hot. However, no sooner than I had started complaining, the heavens opened up and a cool refreshing breeze began to blow. I think we were sent the breeze because we are Baptist and you know that God loves the Baptist!

Enjoy the pictures…

Baby Dedication

The pictures from Caleb's baby dedication (May 10th) came in the mail this week. As you can tell from the pictures Caleb was mesmerized by the entire experience. :)

Best Neighborhood Ever!

Even though we live in the "hood", I think we live in the best neighborhood ever! You couldn't ask for better neighbors than those who live on our little cul-de-sac. Allison and Caleb were out sitting on our front porch today and a couple of the neighbors stopped over to chat. Allison snapped a few pictures and so I thought I would post them. I have also posted a few pictures of some of the other neighbors and a few pictures of the neighborhood as seen from our front porch.

Enjoy.

Weekend away…

We took advantage of the long weekend and took a trip to visit my family in Kilgore. We loaded up the vehicle and fought our way East to take the precious grandson to visit Papaw Travis and Grandma Mimi. It was a nice weekend, but way too short. Of course the weekend was ALL ABOUT CALEB!

We drove up to my parent’s home on Friday afternoon and the house seemed deceptively quiet since my brother and father had not yet returned from their weekly fishing trip. The stillness and respite didn’t last long. The moment we crossed the threshold Grandma Mimi and Aunt Bulging-Optic-Nerve (aka Sarah) pushed Allison and I aside and scooped up precious baby Caleb.

See Caleb’s reaction to all the attention…

When Papaw Travis and Uncle David came in the door, it was like someone rang the bell and the fight began. The person left standing would have the privilege and joy to feed precious baby Caleb his cereal. Uncle David won the fight that night!

Eventually Aunt Sarah got an opportunity to feed Caleb as well…

The next day Papaw Travis and Uncle David took Caleb outside to meet Grandpa’s other grandchildren…his Catalpa Trees and his vegetable garden. I just know that my dad and brother are going to turn my son into an outdoorsman and I will be forced to carry my son all over the wilderness pretending to be a “real man”. I don’t think I have it in me! I’m not going to think about that now…back to the pictures.

After Caleb came back inside Aunt Sarah found Caleb’s puppy shoes and forced them on his feet for a Kodak Moment with his Grandma. You can really tell how much Caleb is growing by comparing the next two pictures. As you can see, Caleb is wearing his puppy shoes in both pictures.

While we were in East Texas, we also stopped by to see Allison’s friend Audra.

Audra recently had a new addition to her household…a brand new baby boy named Max.

Caleb just loved playing with Max.

Later that evening, Audra came over to visit and helped Allison give Caleb a bath and then proceeded to “fix” his hair…
