The room is too small...

The furniture is finally here! It was delivered and put together (not by me) this morning. It seems SO much larger in the room than it did in the “show room”. I love the furniture, but I’m not sure if the room is small or if the furniture is crafted for some insanely gigantic baby. Who knows, maybe it is a sign…Allison is a full 17” taller than I am; perhaps the baby will be born to fit the furniture?!

Laundry Already!!!!

The kid hasn't even shown his face and we are doing laundry for the boy! Allison asked if I wanted to help fold Caleb's first load of laundry. I, of course, replied in the affirmative and with a warm smile and song in my heart I started to help fold the stunted clothing. I had no idea that it was necessary to sort the clothing by size, use, shape, color, fabric type, the feeling one has when you hold the clothes, and by the way that light defuses through the fabric. When I realized that I did not have the master decoder ring that would tell me which pile the clothes were supposed to go in, I panicked and surrendered the job to my lovely bride.

Enjoy the pictures of Caleb’s first load of laundry…

Be careful, don't "Fall"

Don't you love the fall? It is one of my favorite times of the year. It makes me want to put Christmas lights up and it also makes me want Allison to start weeding the flower beds! Too bad she is big-o-prego and can't bend down!

Since I haven't posted that many pregnant pictures of Allison in "street clothes", I thought I would post the one below showing the beauty that is my wife and our fall decorations on our front porch.

Documenting Growth (30 Weeks)

YESTERDAY...Allison slid into the 30th week of the pregnancy. It sort of crept up on us. I am not sure if you can tell from this picture, but my wife is pregnant. I think I just realized it!

The First Furniture

We finally have something besides painting supplies in the baby's room. After church today, Allison and I went by Target and found something for the room. It wasn't difficult to put together, but I think the time I spent on the living room floor with a hammer and screwdriver was merely foreshadowing of what was to come. Eventually our ship will come in and when we buy a piece of furniture it will either come assembled or it will come with some sort of laborer (besides me) to put it together!

Too bad the other baby furniture isn’t scheduled to come in until December, because the room is looking a little sparse right now. I’m sure that will change soon.

Prepared Childbirth?

Photobucket
We had our first class on Saturday to prepare us for the birthing of the baby. It was VERY informative. However, if I see one more GRAPHIC depiction of squeezing a grapefruit through a crazy straw before Allison has her chance I don’t know what I will do.

The class was about five hours long and within that short time we watched a few videos of some babies birthin! I am all about learning of the circle of life, but good grief I’m all for a little careful camera positioning too. This class confirmed that I will be staying up near Allison’s head when it is time for Caleb to enter the world.

We toured the hospital, saw the delivery rooms, and briefly practiced the birthin’ breathin'.

I’m glad we went and I am glad that it is over.

It's a Bumbo

Our friends, Jared and Bobi Ann, came into town from Alabama and brought the coolest seat for Baby Caleb. It is called a "Bumbo Baby Seat". They said they loved the one they had when Kati Ann was a baby.

Supposedly babies are lazy and will need a special seat so that they can sit up. Who knew that these babies were so needy!?

The four of us (five if you count Baby Caleb) went out to eat and had the best time catching up with Bobi Ann and Jared. Too bad they don't live closer.

Below is a "movie" of the 3d Sonogram...Enjoy.

The 3D Sonogram

Today we had the 3D sonogram. It was the coolest thing ever! My mom, sister and I went to view the spectacle.

At first we were afraid that Caleb was not going to cooperate. He spent the first part of the show with half of his face buried in the placenta…ew. After much prodding by the technician, he finally turned around and we could see the glory that was my son. He is the most handsome boy ever, even though we think he is going to have the “family nose”.

I've uploaded some pictures. If I can get the video to work I will upload that tomorrow.

Documenting Growth (28 Weeks)

Allison wanted to be sure and take a picture at 28 weeks because she was born when her mother was 28 weeks pregnant! I'm not sure if we know the particulars on why she was so premature, but it had something to do with her mother being ill and they didn't want her illness to harm the baby (Allison, just in case you were not following).

I can't imagine having a kid right now...I need the next 12 weeks to prepare myself and to finish teaching Allison how to raise my son!!! Just kidding.

Can you guess what we did this weekend?

I’ll give you one chance to guess what Allison and I did this weekend. I will even give you three hints…

Hint #1…

Hint #3…

We started painting the babies room!!!

Allison started priming the room on Friday. She got everything primed and the first coat of paint on the ceiling by the time I got home from work. After another trip to Sherwin Williams, another $50 on painting supplies, and countless aches and pains, we took an extended break at 2:00 on Saturday.

We have two coats of paint on everything except the trim (haven't even started that) and we have yet to start the the second color for the stripes on the green wall.

We even started to spray paint the full size bed...
