Chick Magnet...

Of course my son will most definitely be a "chick magnet"! Can he be anything else with a father as good looking and suave as I am?

My wonderful and incredibly generous friend Heather (work BFF) has foreseen this and has rightly obtained the appropriate attire for my son. The onesie is being modeled by a stuffed lamb that both Kylie and Dawson (Heather’s kids) had when they were babies.

Our wonderful neighbor...

Our next door neighbor (Cindy) came to our door tonight bearing gifts for baby Caleb. She brought three clothes thingys (I think they are called "onesies"), a little "snuggle bunny" and a yellow blanket.

Documenting Growth (26 Weeks)

Here she is again...with her big-o-baby-belly. Allison says she feels like she is bigger today than she was yesterday. I say NOTHING.

Quick Trip to Arkansas

We took a quick trip to Little Rock this weekend to visit Allison's family. We had a great time...except...Allison got sick on Saturday. It was probably was just a 24 hour thing, because after much heaving Allison felt a lot better the next day.

Below is a picture of Allison and her youngest sister Bridget (aka..."The Cute One").

More cool stuff...

I am so thankful that our friends Darrin and Anessa had a baby before we did. We get some pretty cool hand-me-downs!

Like the much needed "Diaper Champ". I have been told that our baby's poo will stink and we might want a place to put the diapers. The diaper champ is the place to put them and it seals them away so that the fumes won't make the new wall paint bubble.

I love UPS...and my Aunt...

There was another package on our front porch today. Like the overalls from the previous entry, the package was from my Aunt Ellie who lives in Huntsville, Alabama. This package contained a frame that you can personalize and a baby blanket and with a pillow. They are too cool.

The first pair of overalls!!!

There was a package waiting on our front porch for us when we got home today. It was Caleb's first two pair of overalls. Since that is my dad's favorite fashion statement, I am sure he will be so proud.

Now we only need paint...

The remodel of the front room is finally finished...sort of. Freddy finished his part now all we have to do is our part. Allison has some good ideas on how she wants the room to look and she may go tomorrow to buy the paint. We are going to get no VOC paint so it should be perfectly safe for Allison to paint the room while I am at work. Not that I don't want to paint, but thank goodness for modern technology!

Minor Surgery...

It really is just a face lift. I think most of us could do with a little nip here…a tuck there. It is a time of renewal and replenishing. A time to shed the old skin and start fresh...

We are going to recover the glider!!! That is my mother is going to re-cover the glider.

Yesterday Allison and I went to the fabric store to pick out fabric to recover the cushions for the glider rocker that will go in the baby’s room. Let me stop for a moment and say that I am completely secure in my manhood and as a secure manly man I can go into a fabric store and ask the woman where they keep the cording and not feel any more girly than I would if I went into a sporting-goods store and asked for something “sporty”. We got an absolute divine piece of fabric that fit the theme of the baby room perfectly. See the pictures below.

The Name...

Allison and I have FINALLY agreed on a name for the baby...Caleb Aaron.

Photobucket

The following names meanings have been obtained by using "100,000+ Baby Names...the most complete fascinating, and helpful name book you can find" by Bruce Lansky, (copyright 2007, published by Meadowbrook Press).

Caleb = (Hebrew) dog; faithful (Arabic) bold, brave. Bible: one of the twelve spies sent by Moses.

I don't know if that means we are naming our son after a "faithful dog" or a "bold and brave dog"...you be the judge.

Aaron = (Hebrew) enlightened. (Arabic) messenger. Bible: the brother of Moses and the first high priest.

When you consider the middle name with the first, it is much better. We are naming our son after a "faithful dog who is an enlightened delivery boy".

A new book for baby...

My Aunt Joy and Uncle James gave us the neatest book..."The Christian Mother Goose Book of Nursery Rhymes". It takes common nursery rhymes and changes them a tiny bit.
Here is a sample of one of the rhymes from the book:

"Rub-a-dub-dub,
My prayers from a tub,
With bubbles and prayers
Side by side.
'Dear God, as I scrub
On the outside, and rub,
Please rub-a-dub
Scrub me inside.'"

Can you believe it takes twelve weeks!?!?!?

We went by the baby store today to check on the "procedure" for ordering the baby furniture. When we asked how long it would take for the order to come in, they said it would take twelve weeks! Can you believe it takes twelve weeks to ship overpriced furniture from wherever it is now to the baby store? Once it gets to the store, they said they would deliver it to our home a week from the time they receive it. For those of you who can’t do the math…that is thirteen weeks! We decided we better go ahead and order the stuff or the baby might be sleeping on the floor! We ordered the “brushed black” finish (see Ragazzi).

Also, my parents agreed to trade a full size iron bed that they have for our old guestroom wood frame bed that we have. I plan on painting the iron bed black and putting it in the baby’s room for a little while so that the grandparents can come and raise the baby and we can sleep!

My Uncle Terry

We have been out of town since Wednesday due to a sudden death in our family. My Uncle Terry was electrocuted in a work accident early Wednesday morning. Allison and I drove to East Texas on Wednesday night and then we all (my parents, siblings, Allison and I) drove to Arkansas on Thursday to be with the family. Everyone genuinely liked my Uncle Terry. He was well respected by his entire community. In fact the owners of the funeral home said that the visitation was one of the largest they have ever seen. The line to get into the funeral home was down the street. They estimated about 630 people came to the visitation alone. He will most definitely be missed.

Below are a few pictures of Uncle Terry, Uncle James and my dad (Travis).
